I get asked a lot about juggling my time or I fit everything in. I do work full-time in addition to my responsibilities for
Chick Lit Plus,
CLP Blog Tours, and Marching Ink,
and then I like to always be working on my next published title as
well. And now I have one more task to add to my planner – getting
married! My wedding is scheduled for September
7, 2013, and I have been full-steam ahead on those plans since the ring
got on my finger. Sometimes I question how I fit everything in. I won’t
lie – I work long hours. On average, it is about 15 hours a day. The
weekends I usually don’t work as long, but
I don’t get days off. I think one really easy reason to how I fit
everything in is simply because it’s my passion. I love what I do, and I
rarely feel like I am working. If I didn’t enjoy this, why would I work
the long hours? So I consider myself lucky in
that regard. It might have taken me a bit, but I finally got it figured
out, and I can definitely see myself doing what I do for a long, long
time.
Another reason why I think I can fit everything in
is because I know when to give myself breaks. I listen closely to my
body and what it tells me. I don’t feel that I over extend myself when
it comes to my work, because that is simply not
good for you and people can easily become burned out quickly by doing
this. I know my limits, I know I need sleep, and I know I need time away
from office to be a twenty-five year old woman with my friends and
family. And I always love a good manicure!
The third reason I’ll list is simply good time
management and organizational skills. I always keep to-do lists and my
calendar is very organized, never letting me miss a deadline. I can tell
myself that for one hour I will only write –
and that means no TV, no Facebook, no emails. I can tell myself that
for 30 minutes I will read and only read. I really am not sure where
these skills come from, but I’m happy I have them. I think a lot of it
is simply self-motivation, something every good
entrepreneur needs!
Speaking of which, I now have to dash – off to make more wedding phone calls about our dinner menu :)
